I am a beginner photographer from Hungary. I previously had a Panasonic Lumix TZ100 compact camera before which I used to take pictures and videos of my children's sporting events and my family an friends hiking. I used that camera in automatic mode as a point-and-shoot device. However, I started feeling that I could produce better quality photos and videos with a larger sensor.

In December of this year I started diving into the camera market. At first, I thought that an APS-C MILC would be ideal. I read and watched several reviews. Then, I saw an advertisement for the Panasonic Lumix S5D kit, and I fell in love with it. Why shouldn't I buy a Panasonic body when I already own and like a Panasonic compact? The kit, includes the S 18-40mm lens and a five-year warranty and costs about 1000€ in our country. It was a good deal, and this kit is a great learning tool.

After buying the camera, I also started a photography course on Udemy. Now I'm learning how to take good photos. I'm happy about that I found this community and I could join it. Thanks!

Welcome to LMF33 and don't be afraid to ask help or opinions!. Good luck with your photography course and enjoy your new camera!

Welcome to the forum of the L-Mount nerds for the L-Mount nerds Teufel Grinsend Schwanz

If you like understatement and high quality, you are at the right spot. For non-understatement we have the Leica logo as an option Z04 Flucht

Greetings! Glad to meet you.

What sort of things did you shoot with your compact, and what are you interested in doing with the S5D? I’m sort of all over the place. ^^;;

My main goal was that I would like to make better videos with the S5D. There is one bad and one good news for me. The bad is that producing good-quality sports videos isn't easy, I couldn't make better video with the camera than with my phone yet. The good is that this camera takes fantastic pictures.
I would like to show you some examples, but I can't link photos from Google Photos. The forum doesn't allow links and the files are too large to upload.

Does anyone have an idea, how to share them?

This is an anti-spam protection of the forum software. After a couple of postings without links, it will automatically go away.

Google's Gemini AI search provides instructions on how to share an image from a Google Photos account.

Open the image you want to post here, use the share button and then select to create a link, paste that link into another tab to open the image, then copy that URL and past it into your forum post here, and lastly wrap the URL with image tags like this:
[IMG] your URL here [/IMG]

The photo below is from my Google Photos account, so it does work. But to be honest it would be a bit of a nuisance to do this regularly.

An easier way would be to use a Flickr account. That's what I do regularly here. Flickr has a shortcut to create a BBCode link that you can just paste into the forum post and it works. Alternatively you can downsize you image and upload it to the forum. Images uploaded here have to be smaller than 2MB from memory.

Anyway, here is my photo from Google Photos (and it's not L-mount, it's an m4/3 photo taking with a LUMIX GX85 camera from 2016):
