Rumors Panasonic 24-60 f2.8 or f2.0

Together with one or even two new cameras, Panasonic is rumored to also release a new Standard Zoom lens on may 13th. The focal range already leaked a few weeks ago (Link). The maximum aperture is still unknown. It could be a smaller fast zoom, like the 28-70 from Sigma, but starting at 24mm and less focal length on the longer end. Or it could be a very fast zoom.

What do you expect and what would you prefer?

The focal range for a zoom is very interesting, although it is close to the 20-60 kitzoom.

For me personally, it would depend on its size. For my use cases, it would need to be significantly smaller than the kitzoom. I doubt that this is possible with F2.0 or F2.8.

The Zoom significantly smaller than the 20-60 kit is the 18-40 kit. I don't expect anything else soon. But if the 24-60 will be a 2.8, I would expect a similar size to the 20-60. A f2.0 would B the much bigger.

I am already well covered for zooms so I haven't been too engaged on this rumoured new lens.

I would like a pancake lens for my S9, either a 28mm or 35mm.

I was watching the recent PetaPixel review of the Sigma 300-600mm F4 lens and noticed on the title screen where it shows what they used to shoot the episode it just said "????", where lately is has been the S1Rii. So presumably Jordan is testing a new camera. Maybe a new LUMIX?

That sounds very interesting. Would fit in the time schedule May 13th.

I still pray for a small photocentric camera with EVF in 2025

The 24-60 mm f/2.0 lens will not be for everyone, it is a narrow specialization. Why don't we do something more reasonable like compact 28-105/3.5-5.6 and inexpensive ? Or a follower of 20-60, like 60-150/3.5-5.6 .

I hope for a 24-60mm With a motorzoom. Than can use it in a church for one of the camera's for the livestream. In FHD that would give you a 24-240mm, more than enough.

I find the lens really interesting. I hope Lumix continues to make hybrid lenses that are smaller than their other brand equivalents.

Four of the last five Lumix's FF and AF lenses (the 26mm f/8 doesn't count) have been size-first lenses: the 14-28mm, 100mm f/2.8 macro, 28-200mm, and 18-40mm. Except for the 100mm f/2.8, all the others have fairly narrow apertures, but if they've been able to make the smallest FF and AF macro lens on the market at f/2.8, I hope they'll be able to make a relatively small f/2.8 zoom as well...

I expect a very tiny 24-60/4 to work well as cine lens(no breathing, parfocal). For the S9 and the expected new cine camera. Maybe collapsing! The 2nd camera is maybe something for Paul @pdk42, a successor to the original S1.

If you have ever seen the Canon RF 28-70/2 (1.4KG), I cannot imagine how big a 24-60/2 would be.

But there is also the Sony 28-70/2 which is mach lighter. It's even lighter than the Panasonic S pro 24-70/2.8.

I personally expect a 24-60/2.8 in the size of the 20-60 or 28-200. But I'm a bit surprised how overwhelming more of you guys hoping for more light weight options. Since I shoot more and more portrait, I would more appreciate a f2.0 zoom lens. I already use the Sigma 28-70 and I would rather like to have something faster.
