Which lenses are you missing?

honestly, with all the million lenses already available, there is little to ask for in that range.
what I do not have is longer lenses. I am not sure 100-500 is long enough, and all the 600 are incredibly large, and only 600mm.
As of now, for anything like safari I look and I see I would still get the 100-400 in my M43 G9.ii- that part is still clearly lacking.
The other obvious missing area, not for me, is 18-50 F2.8 or even better, mirroring the excellent M43 F1.7 zoom, starting wider than 24mm. I do not need it but it is bread and butter for many.

For a 600mm lens to not be large your only option would be to make it very slow, along the lines of the Canon RF 600mm with fixed f/11 aperture, which would be far too limiting for most people. For 600mm in L-mount it's really just the Sigma 300-600/4, reputedly a great lens..

Of course, there is also the 150-600 & 60-600. But small they are not.

Panasonic did just file a patent for a 125-600mm f/5.6-8.3 lens.

And apparently Sigma has filed a patent for a FF superzoom that reaches 700mm.

Yes, these will all be slow, but with the high ISO performance of FF lenses - not to mention the fantastic NR most PP packages now offer - I’m not how much that really matters from an IQ perspective. AF may be something else, however.

According to this website and others, Meike have a lens roadmap that shows Fujifilm GFX fast primes plus FF primes and fast zooms for E, Z & L mounts. The zooms will be 24-70mm and 70-180mm f/2.8s, which could be very interesting. I might hold off longer on the Samyang 60-180mm if there are alternatives on the horizon.

Of course, a roadmap makes no guarantee that lenses will appear or the timeframe but I think it's a good sign of intention. All lens makers should have a roadmap they make available to the public.
