Yes, the old DSLR times where different in terms of battery life. But then you can also compare to the SLR times, where I changed the battery one time per year…I did read somewhere, after doing some comparisons for myself, that there is also a significant downside to that nice EVF of 5.7mp. While using the same batteries, it uses significant more power.
I know the S1 IIe is more power efficient when not using the evf. Would that offset it enough? So that the power consumption is not worse ? I can do about 3 days with 2 full batteries. Doing like few 100 shots, some times with high resolution mode. And that is not that much battery life in my opinion. And I do switch off my camera all the time.
If I compare that with my old Nikon dslr it was like going for weeks on one battery. That is a downside for all mirrorless cameras. I know.
OK, the S1R is not power saving, especially if you consider the huge battery. But in studio work (using battery grip) I normally have enough power for the day with a result of about 1000 pictures. That is ok.
And even with more power saving cameras like my OM1 I always take a spare battery with me. So in summary the battery topic is (for me!) a bit overrated.
