*** February 2026 Image & Video Thread ***

LOL I had to google Smaug. I’m like - “I want to go there!"

In all seriousness, it does remind me a bit of my native Oregon. Fantastic work.

It does look a little Middle-earthy with that bridge over the stream.

Ha ha - yes, it's a bit middle earth like. In truth, it's in the Yorkshire Dales:

New habit - taking walks with my daughter keeping us both off screens and letting me practice photo and video (on my dji pocket 3 mostly). Also, I remember when I was I lived in Mexico, I always had my camera on me. I was just known by the neighborhood as the guy who takes pictures. Decided I want to recreate that image for myself here so that I start to blend into the surroundings and people figure out who I am and become less curious/suspicious of me taking photos. Looking at the photo now, feel like I overcooked it - but please give me your thoughts. Maybe the editing would work without a pink and purple clad kid and instead if there was a serious old man with a long beard in a robe.

On my walks, I've found a couple of streets that would be gold for portrait shoots. Houses with a dozen different colors of doors and walls with various textures that would allow you to get a few different looks and shots within a block.

Have you tried these in black an white? I'm thinking the snow on the ground could make some interesting ethereal look
Hm. I'll admit I'm not a fan of black-and-white in general, and the blue sky felt like the only thing keeping the scene from being dismal and washed out, to me. But I'll try playing with them and see what comes up!

The main problem I have with it is that there's so little color in it; it's all shades of grey and brown except for your daughter, so I think she actually kind of works here.

Yeah, that sounds like it could be very interesting! Especially the different colors and textures. :)

OK, here's three different B&W treatments I found moderately attractive:

Thoughts?

This one is my favorite. I'd clone out the branches in the top left for a cleaner frame. Print and frame and for your black and white friendly room of choice
Hm. I'm not sure removing the branches is actually an improvement...

I kinda like having the branches to balance that corner of the picture... also, I like framing the central area.

This was very very cool. Didn't talk to the owner, but a couple of us figured out a few of the gory details. ESO 500cc speedway engine fitted with a scavanger pump & remote oil tank. As they're a total loss system in the speedway frames. Looks like a Featherbed frame, 4 leading shoe front brake, Triumph conical rear hub. Fitted with a separate gearbox. I'd imagine it would go really well, quite light with excellent brakes and handling. Very cool. That nasty little 26 mm responsible again. I think
