Firmware update for the S5/S5D

What the hell does “Enhanced the security of products” mean?

I'm just shocked that the S5 is now 5 years old. And still a ripper of a camera. I'll quite possibly try out the new firmware tonight, if I get a chance. 5 years hey.

Yeah, I agree. Its image quality is still probably the best of the 24Mp cameras (or at least, a good as any other) and unless you needed AF for rapidly moving subjects, it’s focusing is good enough.

Anyone been able to get it to load? I've never had any trouble with Panasonic firmware updates, I've tried downloading it a couple or three times, extracting it to different folders, copied it to the top most level of the directory system on the card, can not get it to work on my S5.

Don't mind me, operator error. Tried doing it the old way by pressing the play button, that's not how it's done any more. Read the instructions provided people :)

Did I mention that the S5 is now 5 years old? :D And still getting the occasional update. Gotta be happy with that.
Yeah, but it’s “essential” stuff only (security, compatibility with new lenses etc), not new features.

I'm more than happy with that. I don't have to buy a new camera to be able to take advantage of the features on new lenses etc as they're released. I bought my S5 classic for what it could do at the time of purchase, not what I hoped it might become a year or so down the track.

Edit -my expectations for the S5 - especially autofocus performance, were not that high given the mainstream reviews, it has comfortably exceeded them, and then some, any lenses I was interested in already existed, any extras a few years down the track is just an extra dollop of cream on top.
