News Interesting new camera coming? Lumix DC-L10

I do not believe that "we" are the target group for the Panasonic Lumix L10.

Some among us will buy it for sure, but I think the main target group are those people, who do not own a normal camera and who do not want to buy a normal ILC.

They are looking for an all-in-one solution for photographing their daily life, family and travel with a better image quality than their phone and a better lens flexibility than their phone.

For everything else they use their phone (i.e. video).

Their current alternatives are Sony RX100, othe cheap P&S with sensors smaller than 1 inch, Ricoh GR, Fuji X100 etc. But there is so far no otger option with a zoom and a sensor size if at least MFT.

If this target group does not mine the size and weight of that Lumix L10 vs. a Sony RX100, this is a no-brainer.

This is why I think that the Panasonic Lumix L10 will be a success, although I would have preferred the same body/sensor with a new designed 24-50 zoom or 28-50 zoom or a 28/2.8 FFL (all in ff-terms) instead of a 24-75mm.

But maybe they will add later a Lumix L11 with a different lens?

I can see it's a very tempting pre-order opportunity!

Watch out with the colour of that special edition. According to a German review, the flash cover and all plastic parts do not have the exact same colour like the aluminium body. This is not Leica level

With all black and black-silver models, I have not heard that.

I saw a spanish youtuber vlogging with the camera and for video the stabilization is just ok. The GH7, G9ii and Lumix S FF cameras have better stabilization... But for photography is good enough, and this camera is aimed more towards photographers, as far as I understood it.

It seems that in the last months the compact cameras are experimenting a hype: the Leica D-Lux 8 is selling very well, even the Lumix LX100II is selling used a lot and more expensive than new. As @dirk says, many people just want a different device to carry around and to create content than the smartphone, as they want a camera that is way more capable for foto and video. Lumix is doing in this regard better than Nikon, for example.

I find it to be very tempting, but I wonder if the camera has the Hand Held High Res shot feature. On the other hand, I suppose it has not the hybrid zoom feature, like all the other Lumix cameras with 4/3 sensor, right? But, it has the focus stacking feature, that is cool.

I think that's fine. Lens stabilization should work well so the end result will be the same.

The lens is decent, if it's the same as in the LX100, as Richard Wong says.
I understand why this is a much better camera for you than the S9. Thinks like EVF, hotshoe, decent lens attached etc.

But for me, the S9 is still more tempting (with perhaps the 40mm f2), it would be my travel camera:
- I hardly use EVF because it doesn't work well with my eyes
- For flash I will use the S5iiX anyways
- I also want good portraits, I need more Bokeh than the L10 can offer.
- I do more photography than video now, but I still do video -> I need the IBIS.
- Electric Shutter is fine in most of my situations...

I saw in some reviews it has the hybrid zoom function - and I understand the G9ii and the GH7 have hybrid zoom

@Richard Wong

Could you please compare the lens quality of the Lumix L10 vs. the Lumix 18-40 zoom on a Lumix S9?

That would help a lot those people who do not need the better sensor performance of fullframe, but would like to have a zoom, no matter with which sensor size.

Maybe also a comparison to an older RX100 version with the 28-70 zoom and the cheapest Fuji X zoom on a low resolution (16-30MP) Fuji sensor.

Look like an S100 mark III.

EVF - check!
Swivel rear screen - check!
Dual dials - nope!

Dual dials don’t bother me much. EVF is the important thing. ^^;;

But it does have an aperture ring on the lens, so I could probably cope.

The sensor has the fancy dual gain mode from the G9ii/GH7 so it will work well for landscape shooting.

Definitely a plus.

Overall, I think it looks nice. I might get one !

Honestly, looking at it side-by-side with the LX-100 II in Richard’s video, I think I prefer the II’s design; the L10 looks a little too simplified, and also a little taller. When you’re talking about this class of camera, which seems designed to shove into a coat pocket or a secondary pocket on something like a laptop bag, every mm counts.
