Yesterday, I bought the Panasonic S-50 lens. It's my first additional lens since the 18-40mm lens that came with the camera.

Today, I took my youngest son sledding. It was a good opportunity to try out the new lens. After all, it's really cold here and we've had the most snow in the past 10 years.

Nice shots of your children. The 50/1.8 is a really nice lens in my view. Quite under-rated.
Thank you! The 50/1.8 was an obvious choice for me. It seems like a good lens for beginners. I've only taken a few photos with it, but I'm quite impressed.

I'm still getting familiar with my new Lumix S 70-300mm lens. I hope to be out in beautiful, wide open spaces later this week.

I find the 50/1.8 to be a superb lens in general but particularly good for outdoor activities with small children - fast AF, the perfect field of view for that sort of distance, fast enough to isolate the subject and light enough not to restrict movement or photo opportunities. It's certainly the first lens I'd recommend to anyone who only had a kit zoom.
