3 pictures stacked in Photoshop.

This next one is the same picture but was made using the Focus Stacking feature on the S1Rii. You can see that the animal is in movement and I should have reduced the number of photos, not 10, just 3 or 4. Learning by doing... I never made macro photography.

On my way to AU & NZ tonight from LAX. Mostly business, and of course winter there. Have the S1R II and will post if I can.
Safe flight! It has been a cold start to winter but some nice cool sunny days.

Absolutely bucketed down with rain in Yorkshire this weekend. This was taken in the churchyard at St. Helen and the Holy Cross in Sheriff Hutton the day before the deluge arrived. "Gathering Storm".

After reading @RCFshooter 's post on Pentax, I ran across my old K-01 and decided to take it out for a spin again.

First thought: Smaller and lighter than I'd remembered.

Second thought: Yeah, other people dinged its ergonomics, but I liked how it felt in the hand before, and still do.

Third: ...was autofocus always that slow? o_O

Fourth: Yeah, this was the camera that really kicked off my 'I really need a viewfinder' thing, because it combined a good sensor/IQ with lousy usability in bright light. :(

Fifth: The IQ wasn't nearly as good as I remembered.

K-01 with Pentax-F 35-70 Macro

The F 35-70 was always a favorite of mine over the DA 18-55 that came with the camera, for the color and micro contrast... but that isn't nearly as sharp.

Compare it to my current Sigma fp with the Konica Hexanon 40/1.8, adapted:

Even focusing by hand with a narrow DoF, that's still very noticeably crisper.
