It's been a very busy end of 2025 / start to 2026, which I'm grateful for, but it's been tough to get much work done on personal projects that I have in works. Mainly, the full Kolari (Magnetic Clip-In) OLPF for the Lumix S Series video. This will be a priory once I deliver my last wedding video next week.

In the meantime, for those curious about it's compatibly with the S1RII, here are a couple quick examples!

While this OLPF was designed for 24MP, 6K sensors, it still does quite well with the 44MP 8K sensor on the S1RII. I also captured some macro / portrait shots of my face to see how it affects detail / sharpness. I have yet to review those shots. More to come!

Very much looking forward to seeing your full review!

Meanwhile: I called Kolari a few days ago to check on the progress of my OLPF preorder. They said that given I placed my preorder at the end of November 2025, I probably won’t receive my filter until sometime in February 2026 at the earliest. Of course I’m hoping it arrives ASAP, but I’m not complaining. It’s a specialty item for a relatively small market. Will be interesting to see if it’s useful for my photography. TBD. Cheers!

Received an email from Kolari today. They say my OLPF will ship "soon". So there's a chance I'll receive the filter in early Feb. Cool!

Awesome!

I received the OLPF filter for my S5iiX from Kolari today. They didn't include any installation instructions with it, and I don't find any on their website (unfortunately). I won't have time to install it for a few days. Here are a couple of iPhone snapshots of it ...

Nice! They have instructions on their Youtube, I just googled it:

You can also find my instructions here at 1:08 in the video:

Let me know if you have any questions.

Did they send me the wrong "installation tool", or is the one for use with my S5iiX supposed to be completely different than the one shown in both installation videos?

The first photo below is the one I received. The 2nd image is grabbed from your video:

Oh no! They definitely sent you the wrong installation tool. I would call them asap to get another one sent. Sorry that happened!

Nevermind. That’s the new magnet mount, just spoke to them.

I called Kolari on Friday. The text label on the new, current clear plastic installation tool is printed on the wrong side of the tool. So, while using the tool to install the magnetic mount, the text label "Installation tool. This side up." should face towards the sensor and will appear backwards as you look at it.

Kolari has now updated their installation video for their OLPF for Lumix L-mount, showing the new misprinted installation tool. Of course, they may later replace this video with another if/when they make a revised installation tool which is labelled correctly. :)

I hope to have time to install and test the filter in my S5iiX soon. Stay tuned.

Apologies for the delay in following-up. I installed the Kolari OLPF in my S5iiX today, and while I was at it, I also cleaned my camera's sensor. :p

The attached image is a 100% crop of a high-res 96MP RAW converted to a >90% quality JPEG. Lumix S 50mm f1.8 lens at f4.0; ISO 1250. I didn't do any color correction, editing, noise reduction, etc. in post.

The image on the LEFT is WITHOUT the Kolari OLPF. The image on the RIGHT is WITH the Kolari OLPF.

A magenta color cast is visible in the blue shirt fabric in the image on the left, caused by aliasing/moire. The OLPF removes essentially all of it in the image on the right. I'll post more test images soon, but I'm already very happy with this result. Z04 Breakdance.gif Cheers.

So great to hear your update!

I have a long video coming out with a ton of side by side examples. Will definitely post here when completed.
