Linux users?

Thanks! When I unzip the file that's on the installer CD, I get a huge list of items (too much text to post here). Below is a partial list, hopefully the most relevant items? ... I don't know what to do next ...

Maybe a Linux user here can help: I bought a USB WiFi adapter for use with the PC I recently converted from Windows 10 to Rocky Linux 8.10. The USB WiFi adapter came with a CD which contains drivers for Mac, Windows, and Linux -- including instructions for how to install the driver for Mac & Windows. But there are no instruction about how to install the driver for Linux. When I put the CD in the CD drive attached to the Linux machine, I can see the directories that contain the Linux driver (in a ZIP file). But I have no idea how to install the Linux driver from the CD (I've never installed anything from a CD under Linux before.) Newb-compatible assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
There should be an automated GUI way of doing it. Similar to navigating to an exe file in windows. Except in will be called setup or install. Can you see and browse the CD in your Linux file navigator?
Otherwise, you'll have to manually install it through the Terminal. It's not too difficult, I don't remember or understand all the commands, but there should be plenty of stuff on the web you can follow.
Not sure if this will work https://www.google.com/search?clien...ntpr&q=how+to+install+Linux+programs+from+CD?

So I've been slowly getting the hang of darktable. Still got an absolute stack of things to learn, been playing around with manually drawn masks, nothing too fancy, but making progress. I think. Not booted into Windows for over a week now I think.

Edited out the top aerial on the top of the mobile tower on this shot. Nothing groundbreaking or earth shattering, but progress :)

There were a few gradient masks involved in this one, took a long time to get where it is, still need to fine tune the sharpening. I still quite like the result though. Managed to get some nice 3D pop to the clouds :)

At least I do see a readme.txt file, and some PDF files.
Expecting some clarification what to do.

I am a 100% Linux user for around 2 decades.
For my photo editing and management my setup is for more then 10 years:
- Digikam for managing all different kinds of photo and video files
- Darktable for RAW processing (before 2015 I used Aftershot Pro (Corel killed that product many year ago after buying the developer company))
- Gimp for pixel processing ;-)
- Adobe DNG converter to convert if required files to DNG. Required für S1R HighRes pictures and perhaps S1(r)ii files. But support for S1(r)ii platform is coming!

The elephants in the room: Darktable is not a 1:1 Lightroom or C1 replacement. DT is a solid program, but works very different. The tools are more technical, and since 3.x is used a scene based workflow by default which has to my knowledge a complete different workflow then LR, C1 or Affinity. After getting familiar with it, it’s nice. Especially using Filmic as default tool.
If you want a more LR related experience it shall be switched to display oriented workflow!

I am not sure if I shall recommend this… to me it looks like the driver is from 2017. At least the directory names contain this timestamp.
I would simply look for a cheap supported wireless adapter/ card.

The content of the zip file looks to me like some source or kernel modules. That means when your Linux get’s a bigger update of the Linux kernel, you might to compile/ install again this “driver”.
I saw on Github a more modern version of this driver for the Realtec 88x2BU.

Nevertheless if you want to try install the “driver” + config you have there, then unzip the archive. Open the console/ terminal go into the directory in which you extracted the archive.
In this directory there is the installation-script “install.sh”. I guess you need to execute it with as root (admin) amd them see what happens…
You shall be able todo this by typing sudo ./install.sh
Be be warned this might not end up well….
- not working with or without failure message
- or perhaps it’s malicious and then it could ruin your system

Rocky Linux is a rock solid and stable Linux distribution. Great work servers and workstations which simply need to run and run. But it does not support bleeding edge or more exotic things.
It might be that Ubuntu or Majaro is support your devices better. You can test this easily. Both distributions offer live editions which you can copy / extract on a usb stick and then boot your whole computer from that usb stick without changing anything operating system installed on your hard drive.
