I'd be interested in comparing it with my favorite Konica Hexanon 40/1.8!

The Konica is pretty sharp and has really nice contrast and color when there's decent light; but the wide aperture can tempt you into shooting in low-light conditions where it won't show to good advantage.

What a fun little lens. Wish they had released it earlier. But I really like the idea of this lens and I'll have to see if it fits into my current roster.

So we waited ! there is a replacement sigma 45, I hope the line will be expanded and the next one will be 28mm.

This lens looks pretty good and the weather resistance would be nice, but the high price and horrible bokeh would put me off so I'll be sticking with my TTArtisan 40/2 for now. Maybe once there are more in peoples' hands they'll convince me.

Yes, same for me. I would have purchased it for sure if it was here a year ago. The lack of small lenses for the S9 encouraged me to get Sigma lenses. I have the 24mm, 45mm and 90mm.

But I hope this new 40mm does well for Panasonic.

Julia has interesting samples. The further away the object of photographing is, the more the bokeh balls turn into "pears". It is clear that this is only 40/2, bokeh is not a strong point. Do you like it?

Personally, the pear-shaped bokeh-balls don't bother me at all. I might even prefer them to perfectly round bokeh balls. But then I’m not a street/portrait photographer. But in general I think those shots look great, and I could see having the 40/2 as part of a compact travel kit.

This is the bokeh of the Sony FE 40mm F2.5 at f/2.5:

And this is the bokeh of the Lumix 40mm at f/2 from the Richard Wong review:

I don't see a big difference in the shape of the bokeh-balls... I guess the size has to do with the distance.

I know the Sony 40mm pretty well, and if the Lumix is as good as the Sony, it will be excellent.

So far, I have not found any comparisons with Sigma 45.

Now we need an S9 with EVF and a 28 or 24mm of this. Same rendering. That would be an awesome kit.
