*** March 2026 Image & Video Thread ***

I share it here because they are March pictures :) but not Lumix ;)
Had a business trip early yesterday, so opted to sleep over in Amsterdam the day/evening before at the Navy complex near the train station and the Shipping museum in Amsterdam (just opposite of Nemo science museum, otherwise of the water though :)).

After checking in I visited the resistance museum (no pictures), and got myself Shoarma roll from Bashir, a Syrian refugee for 10 years, and running this food caravan for 4 years. He did not sell sausages or had a flame grill :) But very nice person, very good food ! Recommended if you are near Waterlooplein once.

Returned near my lodging around sunset Andgot this version of the museum! What a difference some nice light makes!

I really like the GR3, was on the verge of selling it to switch to S1Rii because I don't use it often, but I should do much more often. A backpack trip like this short one I was glad I had this very small camera with me and glad I didn't bring my S5ii with 16-35. In the end I would not have had room in my small backpack anyway.

The thing is - these pictures could been made very wel also on a phone - A Samsung S25/2S6 Ultra, or a Iphone.Perhaps at night they would be less quality, but with the Gr3 it would be the same. And if somebody states - I don't like the formfactor, this worked very well on my S25 Ultra:

I really don't like the artificial HDR, not to being able to turn off computational part of the phone pictures, that can sometimes look good. I did take pictures inside the museum and are nice too at iso 3200, not possible with phone. And the s25 itself let alone this extension, is way bigger than the GR3. I also took pictures with my iPhone, but for me there is a night and day difference, which on this 1600px version is of course not visible. But a full screen 4K version of this and a phone picture is very different. And I can understand that for most people the phone image is enough. It is easier to share etc. But there is a real difference.

By your definition all aps-c camera's with zoom lenses up 120mm are obsolete.Same sensor size as GR3. And I disagree strongly

You can disagree strongly ;-)
And the reason that I said Expert Raw app from Samsung, is because of the computional part - It doesn't do any, and also I have HDR disabled.

And I wouldn't go more than the 3x zoom, the sensor of the 5x zoom is to small...
 
Finally finished sorting through the pics from last Thursday; walking around city market and the downtown streetcar testing the Minolta 58/1.2 and Soligor C/D 35-140/3.8-5.3 I recently picked up, ending up with 3 hours at Photocon KC. The first and probably last chance I'll have to shoot with a professional model. ^^;; Also a chance to try out the Sigma 35/1.2 II Art and 35/2 Contemporary; sadly, they didn't have the 35/1.4 I was most interested in.

Honestly, I think I liked the Minolta at least as well for the model shots. (Not that I'm any great shakes at model photography.)

One big problem with the Sigma 35/1.2 is that I missed the aperture ring's presence, so it was left set to f/1.2 for almost the entire time I shot with it. :(

Aside from my screw-up, though... even leaving out the price, the f/1.2 was way bigger and heavier than I'd want to shoot.

Didn't get to spend as much time with the f/2 Contemporary, but at least it was more comfortable to shoot with:

Sigma fp, Soligor C/D 35-140/3.8-5.3

The Soligor has a bit of an odd focal range and aperture range, and the first copy I got a couple of years ago didn't really click with me. This one did much better.

Didn't do too badly up close, either - assuming you engaged the macro cam, at least. Without the macro cam, the minimum focus distance is pretty pathetic.

(And this kind of door/doorknob isn't really what I was expecting to see on a busy downtown street. ^^;; )

Minolta 35-70/3.5 Macro

And the Western Auto building a few doors down is another beautiful historic building that's thankfully been saved and restored, instead of demolished.

Very nice. I've tried some studio/beauty stuff in the past, but it didn't really do much for me. Probably as much a case of my ignorance and inexperience as anything else, but I sort of came to the conclusion it was more about the model than the photographer.
