Again you can get the Lumix 50 f1.8 cheaper open box or as good as new.

I'm not even sure I'd buy a MILC 50mm, I still have several legacy which means they are fairly crap in comparison... CZ Tessar 50 f2.8 is nice if you want retro colours. I did some good photography (content wise) with a Pentax 50 f1.4 but it was soft and severely lacking in contrast. Maybe modern PP could salvage those RAWs?

Today my c4k storm footage video peeping on S5ii & 24-105 was sharper! I hated those legacy and DSLR lenses having to stop down to f2.8 or more... At least the CZ Tessar starts at f2.8 without those soft faster f stops.

Yes the Meike is way better than those legacy lenses so why not if you want one, but why would you want one over the Lumix? The extra 5mm? Move forward a bit Z04 Whip2 1

Now I am interested in the 85 /1.8 pro review as well :). That one is online too!! Thanx Richard.

April 31, 2025…. that is a super ultra fools day

The meike 35/1.8 pro and the new mix line are coming soon, but without the l mount.2525.JPG

I didn't like the rendering of the Lumix 24/1.8 when used with busy background, It gets a lot of ugly very distracting circles. So sold it for the same price I got it. One of the reasons I also sold the 85 a long time ago. But I actually do want a fast 24. The 24/1.8 was nice in twilight city landscapes and probably also for indoor stuff. For now I wait and I will have the the 24-60/2.8 soon, so the new zoomlens will be one stop faster then my current zoomlenses @24mm and maybe that is fast enough.

Once in a while a Lumix 18/1.8 will be available for 400 - 500 euro, which I might prefer over a 24/1.4

But if the announced Meike 24/1.4 is nice I might go for that one! Thanx for putting it on the radar. And a 1.4 will be 2 stops faster then the 2.8....

7Artisans just released a 24/1.4 but for now at least it's only for Sony E mount, which is a shame. The Sigma 24/2 is superb, in case that interests you.

I looked up "Huicha" and, though it has alternative meanings in other languages, it seems to be Chinese and mean difference or discrepancy. I'm not sure if that's their term for isolating a subject with shallow depth of field.

Yeah I know. I was looking at the Sigma 24/1.4 dg dn, but that one is 929 new, 713 used like new. So quite expensive. The 2.0 is probably not worth the hassle for 1 stop difference I guess. Maybe the 20/2.0 would be a nice add-on from the view that 24-60/2.8 will be my default lens. And 20/2 is two stops faster then my 16-35, and a lot smaller.

But I'm not in a hurry this time... will wait patiently for the new 24-60. And maybe the Meike 24/1.4 will be available later this year and two stops faster sounds great. Depending on price it might be worth looking into.
