Well, it's supposed to be. I think.I didn't releasee the difference is "3 stop" EV improvement.
Thanks!Yes, I can imagine it is a very attractive position what an S1-II camera body can achieve, by just "one shot" taking pictures.
That's a very wise option, to discover yourself what a real practice experience and judgement of normal taken images can bring to you.
Instead by judgement of "measured" test shots, by some standard settings, and standard used software options.
As you wrote, you specially are doing "landscape" photography.
I wonder if the about half MP pixel count of an S1-II camera, in comparison to your S1R-II camera,
the advantages by the more wider dynamic range above a certain ISO setting + DGO,
can concur by the disadvantages due to (far) less detail in comparison to the S1R-II camera ?
All comes by advantages and disadvantages.
So I'm curious about your practical experience, you shall encounter in this matter.

Yes, the question of resolution vs. noise has been with us for a while, and it's conventional wisdom that if you downsample the 45 MP image to 24 MP., the resulting noise level in the raised shadows is similar to the native 24 MP sensor. I'm not sure that's always true, but that seems to be the conventional wisdom.
But if this new improvement does indeed reduce noise in the shadows of a 24 MP image by three additional stops (which at this point is merely an assumption, or perhaps a hope, on my part) well then, perhaps some images are indeed better off being shot at 24 MP, assuming you are not going for a huge print. And if you are, you can do a single-row pano, or maybe HR mode, to get the best of both worlds. Of course we are back to possible motion problems and/or downstream processing. But there you are. As you know, it's all about understanding tradeoffs in the end.
This is why I was hoping for DGO on the S1RII, but Sean at Lumix has dashed my hopes. But then, sometimes I think it's his job to tell us No until they are ready to release an official Yes. OK, I know it is part of his job, but that's OK.
Anyway, I so think that if somebody creates a 50-60 MP body with DGO stills, it will a be a wicked good landscape body. I hope Panasonic can pull it off one way or another.
