Very nice. How do you find the AF performance on birds in flight? What is the keeper rate like?

That's interesting. I've been considering replacing the 150-600 with the 500. Thanks for posting your experiences.

And, nice shots. If you are getting 90% hit rate on that kind of BIF, that's impressive indeed.

Last weekend I tried it with my Sigma 150-600 first time as well.
I have to give it another try, because I realized too late, that I made a mistake and the recognition mode was still on Human Body & Face... I switched to animal after a few hundred shots.
The it worked quite well, but most birds were gone by that time .

The 500 f5.6 needs to be really nice...
 
To be honest the black kites have been decoyed, so they came pretty close.

Well, it seems the S1RII does a wonderful job as it comes to "fast" AF and bird tracking.
