It is finally available for L-Mount. An interesting option to pair with the Lumix S9 or even with the Sigmas FP, FPL and BF, because of the size and form factor... There are many reviews online of this lens with the Sony E mount or the Nikon Z mount too. I think @CharlesH has some experience with this lens and the Sony A6700 camera.

Full-Frame 28mm Prime for Street, Travel, and Everyday Photography.
Native L-Mount Support with In-Camera Lens Corrections.
Ultra-Compact 60g Design for Pocketable Portability.
Precision Optics: 6/6 Elements (2 ED, 2 Aspherical).
Fast, Accurate VCM Autofocus for Photo and Video.
0.32m Minimum Focusing Distance for Close-Up Detail.
Integrated Slide-Lever Lens Cap for Instant Shooting Readiness.
Polygonal Aperture Plate for Distinctive Starburst Effects.

It would seem that this is the best option for my S9, but it is too compromising. The aperture will not be able to cover the depth of field to the maximum, for example, for a landscape. It won't work for the street either. And it seems that in so many examples I see a "blue" picture like from some old lenses. For me, even the native 26/8 looks more attractive, but given the imminent release of the viltrox evo 26/2.8, it makes sense to wait.

I use the the Sony version of the Viltrox 28mm f/4.5 with my a6700 (aps-c) when I want to go small, almost pocket size. I'll get the L-Mount version; not pocket size with my S1 II but still pretty small. An maybe some day an S9 II with an EVF will come out. :)

Here is the Viltrox 28mm "lens cap lens" on the right, to compare with the size of the Lumix 28mm f/8.

Here is a picture of the VILTROX 28mm f/4.5 mounted on a S1R II (not mine, this photo is from the B&H website).

I like the size and the fact is it AF, but agree that a fixed aperture of f4.5 is likely to be problematic for street and landscape.
