*** January 2026 Images & Videos Thread ***

Was nice to have a wander round the field this afternoon having been struck down with flu for over a week, and I still have no voice to speak to the ladies:). I like to think they'd missed me.

Went to St. Vrain state park in Colorado this morning. Not much going on, but finally did get some nice shots of a juvenile bald eagle.

S1RII, Sigma 500/5.6, Sigma 1.4x TC.

This last shot is a little soft. Not sure how it ended up at F11 - must have bumped the aperture ring. Also, probably should have used a somewhat faster shutter.

Yesterday I made a day trip up to Timberline Lodge on Oregon's Mt. Hood. The first photo is a wide shot looking up from the back of the lodge towards the peak. One of the resort's snow grooming machines was on its up to the ski slopes. This is a crop of a 24MP RAW.

The next photo is from the same spot, but looking downslope over the lodge, looking towards mountains beyond. That's a raven flying by. This is a slight crop of a 96MP hi-res RAW.

A ~200mm view (using my Lumix S 70-300mm lens) of Mt. Hood's main peak. The mountain is a semi-dormant volcano. If you look closely near the center of the frame, there's steam rising from around the exposed rock. Between the tops of the 2 trees at the lower left, there are 2 people snow shoeing. This is a crop of a 96MP RAW.

Mt. Hood's lower peak. 2 people are visible riding on the chair lift at the bottom of the frame. Another crop of a 96MP RAW.

Great shots! Your images always make me miss my first home state.

My father had prints hanging in Timberline Lodge for some time. I do believe they still have them in storage and rotate them out every so often.
