Lumix S1Rii autofocus performance

Which setting for focus sensitivity on the S1Rii did you use?
I updated the firmware to 1.1 and set the camera to 'animal detection' 'eyes'. No other settings were changed.

It's new - I wanted to play and the cat was nearest :) Having said that I will experiment with the sensitivity.

I was standing so the plane of focus goes through nose, eyes and ears.

S1Rii - animal detect 1st attempt, Sigma 35mm f1.2 @ f1.8. Early evening, no lights on. Absolutely nailed focus on the eyes. Only need it for cats and planes.
Yeah, I've had good results with the eye detect on my (stationary) dog as well - even with the eyes closed. All default settings.

I took 200+ bird pictures at a zoological garden yesterday. I binned 16 which had missed focus on the eye. Lens is the Sigma 135mm f1.8 HSM, which probably would struggle to keep up with birds in flight, but focusing set on CAF, animal detect, eye, was better than anything else I've ever handled. (haven't handled a Sony though).

Nice shot. Yeah, I've had great results with my stationary dog & eye recognition - even when his eyes are closed. However, dogs-in-motion I have had decent, but not fabulous, results with so far, although I am still learning.

Do you like that 135? I've been wanting to get one for some time now.

It's my favourite lens, but it's easy to get carried away and shoot everything at f1.8. For example, head shots need to be shot at f3.5-4 if you want the nose in focus. It's also slower to focus than the DG DN series. If there's a DG DN version, that would be the one to go for in my opinion.

Below were shot at f1.8. Nose is out of focus on my preferred composition. Guess that means I'll be forced to go there again :)

Edit - these are all cropped. It is an incredibly sharp lens.
