SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports

It's a zoom. The min. focusing distance from the Sigma is not at the long end. So the Sigma can focusing closer, but only at a shorter focal length.
Ah yeah that makes sense. I haven't seen any side by side comparisons yet but there have been comparisons with the Sony version which you can kinda extrapolate I guess against the Panasonic.$600 is a pretty big incentive to get the sigma however.

How does that work? If it can focus closer but can't magnify as large?
Presumably because the MFD is different across the focal length range. So if the MFD is shortest at 200mm, that will result in a much higher magnification ratio vs if the MFD was at 70mm.
